Dear young people,
Your future awaits you! Don’t you want to grow old?
It’s time to stop romancing the violence that is causing your generation to possibly not see AARP member benefits. But to instead date your future once again. Don’t you want to go to college, trade school or start an exciting new job? There’s traveling, the opportunity of marriage and the joys of parenthood and grandkids down the line. You can have all that and more with no activity geared toward violence, which is glamorized today in many ways but will at some point lose its luster when the only options are prison or being six feet under because of poor decisions.
It’s time to wake up to the reality that life is more than just the violence you see in some video games, movies, or television. Life is a gift from God that is to be treasured and used for the purpose He created for you. A question for young people: When was the last time you spoke to God?
It saddens me to hear the recent story about a young man in Spring, TX who was gunned downed at a basketball court from a prior dispute over sneakers. Really? sneakers! Two lives now forever changed by one split decision. Young people: Whatever happened to resolve an argument peacefully? Poor decisions not only affect your life but the lives of your loved ones as well.
I am praying for you to do better. It’s time for you to wake up from the nightmare of romancing violence and dream about dating your future in a positive way. We love you and want you to grow old gracefully but more importantly, we just want you to grow old. Dear young people: Your future awaits you.
