Miss Mykie recently celebrated her sobriety with close family and friends at her event Sober Soiree January 13, in Houston; where she kicked off her Non-Profit organization #ProjectRehab to advocate for people battling alcohol abuse and depression.
If you know Miss Mykie you know she is a woman of many talents. Born Mykel Gray in Denver, Co., the singer/songwriter, actress and television personality knew at the age of thirteen she wanted to be an entertainer. She knew she was destined to be a star! Those dreams would eventually come true when she launched and released her first single “Dear Hater” in 2009. Fans soon came to know Miss Mykie as the then co-host of the popular (millennial) show, BET’s 106 & Park in 2012. A year later she launched and hosted her successful Instagram show Spills “The Tea”.
On the outside things looked great for Miss Mykie, but when the cameras stopped rolling and the spotlight faded, she battled with depression and alcoholism. Family and friends no longer recognized the once bubbly and cool young lady they loved. More importantly, Miss Mykle didn’t recognize herself and did something brave. She checked herself into rehab. One year later she is clean and sober.

Miss Mykie had this to say on why she decided to celebrate her sobriety in public: “The purpose is to get the word out about addiction and depression. It keeps me grounded and focused on my mission. It’s something that people should know about.” In addition, she also visits college campuses to talk to students about her addiction.
Knowing she has come a long way, Miss Mykie is proud to be sober and she’s ready to take the world by storm! So much so her celebration turned into an engagement. Congratulations to the soon-to-bride and groom!
Music for the event was by Lil Zach The DJ. Attendees enjoyed catering from Chef Coyo and Sugar Rush By Desi provided desserts
