Steve Harvey took home the statue for Outstanding Talk Series at the 45th NAACP Image Awards on Saturday for his daytime show Steve Harvey. In its second season, his show was in good company with the Queen of Talk—Oprah Winfrey, Queen Latifah and Arsenio Hall. Harvey showed his gratitude from his win by tweeting the following message to his fans:
Harvey got his start in entertainment as a stand up comedian—often times infusing real life experiences into his act, a staple that has allowed him to brand himself as funny–yet truthful and you can see that humor during the opening segment of his daytime show with “Ask Steve”. It is this type of gratitude and hard work that has propelled Harvey to the top of his game. No longer dependent upon stand up alone, he had branded himself as an actor, comedian, entertainer, television/radio personality and author.
He host The Steve Harvey Morning Show, Steve Harvey, and Family Feud. Harvey is also the master mind behind the hugely popular movie franchise Think Like A Man based upon his #1 New York Times best-selling book— Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man: What Men Really Think About Love, Relationships, Intimacy, and Commitment. The sequel Think Like A Man Too is due in theaters this summer.
Oprah and Harvey have a lot in common these days in the way that he’s carved a place for himself in the media industry. The King of Talk or at least that’s what we like to call him, is doing for daytime television what Oprah did for 25 seasons (1986 to 2011) on The Oprah Winfrey Show, before creating the OWN Network in 2011.
In addition to his recent success and accolades, Steve Harvey was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in May 13, 2013. Harvey, the male Oprah? “Not a bad title…not a bad title at all!”
